Accommodation
Please book your hotel rooms. The
Villa Bazzoni and
Castello Basevi sites of the INAF-OATs are uphill the
San Giusto Castle hill, 10-15 minutes walks from Trieste city center where most hotels and restaurants are located. We suggest to book your hotel at downtown sea level and get to the meeting site on foot or by bus. Suggested hotels are:
- Hotel Impero, near the train station, 30 min. walk from the Observatory, but near convenient bus stops (n. 1 or 15 & 16)
- Hotel Città di Parenzo, at S.Giusto hill base, 20 min. walk or bus n. 15 & 16
- Hotel Continentale, a little more expensive, 20 min. walk or bus 15-16
Other hotels and accommodation can be found at the
Turismo FVG Accommodation page (choose
Trieste and Karst as area and
Trieste as locality, have a look at the map here below for suitable hotel locations). If you need further help or assistance feel free to contact Marco Molinaro ( molinaro [at] oats [dot] inaf [dot] it ).
Other information
Lunches on the 12th and 13th will be provided on site (buffet lunch). A Forum Dinner (free of cost for the participants) will take place the evening of Wednesday the 12th at the
Buffet da Angelina. Please provide
Marco Molinaro with dietary requests.
A small map and some directions to reach INAF-OATs can be found
here. It contains some info on how to reach Trieste by plane and how to get from the airport to the city itself. Apart the mentioned APT 51 line and taxi you can try the
Science-Bus shuttle service (about 20 € per person per ride). Below a Google Map with some more information on meeting location, hotels and buses. You may also find it useful the Trieste local transport web site,
Trieste Trasporti, even if, unfortunately, it is in italian only.
